Many are cannibalized for spare parts but some are repaired and sold to people who would not【D9】______have a television or computer. The Industry Council for Electronic Equipment Recycling defends its members who buy computers and other office equipment from industry and ship them abroad, because under EU rules the business is legal if they are working models and intended to be sold on the second-hand market. The problem arises when equipment is thrown away.
