In New Delhi, the smog was at its worst in November, 2019. Government officials have taken steps to control the pollution. They stopped work at construction sites and limited the number of cars that were allowed on the road. But experts said, this wasn’t likely to have a major effect on the smog because a lot of it came from outside New Delhi. Around the time of year when temperatures drop, India’s farmers light fires to get rid of leftover crops. That produces a lot of pollution that settles over New Delhi.
