What is the Writing Lab and why should I use it?
The Writing Lab is a free service where all students at Purdue University can receive assistance and feedback on any writing-related task. Specially trained consultants work with graduate students, undergraduates, students learning English as a second language, and students working on resumes and applications.
What happens during a consultation?
Consultations last 30 minutes and allow you to work one-on-one with a consultant whose job is to help you become a better writer. The consultant will ask you about your writing task and what you want to focus on during the session. You can ask for help on starting an assignment or improving the paper; you can get feedback on whether the paper meets the requirements of the assignment; you can also work on revising and polishing your work. Do I have to make an appointment to use the Writing Lab?
You are not required to make an appointment for a consultation, but it is highly recommended. Appointments guarantee that you will meet with a consultant on a specific day and time. However, each day a certain number of drop-in slots are available. These times are given away beginning at 8:30 a.m. each day, so you can call to receive a same-day appointment.
The purpose of the Writing Lab is to______.
