答案 This report aims to analyse the feasibility of adopting flextime in our company to replace the standard 9 to 5 work routine from the following four aspects; benefits for employees, benefits for the company and the disadvantages as well as the suggested arrangement for the flextime. First, flextime policy is beneficial for employees. Flextime may give employees greater freedom to organise their working lives to suit their personal needs; besides, it may allow employees to choose a schedule that avoids traffic congestion and thus reduces commuting time; Moreover, flextime may help employees reduce psychological stress resulting from concern over arriving at the work place at a set time; another advantage is that employees may attain a better emotional well-being under a flexible working scheme. Second, it is advantageous to the company. Absenteeism may be easily reduced; Moreover, the employees may undoubtedly be motivated and mutual respect may be easily established between the company and the employees. Employees’ loyalty can be improved; production can be increased because of effective work gained. There are also disadvantages. One disadvantage seems to be that flextime may result in higher utility costs because of the longer hours of operation. However, we may soon find out that this one may not come up as a disadvantage when we realise the ultimate benefits such as effective work and increased production under the flextime policy would result in the greatly reduced overtime. So, the only disadvantage flextime may cause would be that time record keeping may become more complicated. Yet, concerning all the benefits for both the company and the employees, we may draw the conclusion that flextime is feasible for our company. Finally, I would like to make some suggestions for the arrangement fa the flexible arrangement: (1)Set the core time as the hours between 10 : 00 am and 8 : 00 pm;(2)the total working hours may be 8 hours as normal;(3)allow employees to set their own working hours within the above agreed limits.
