As young parents go to work for a living, many grandparents have taken on the responsibilities of taking care of their grandchildren. According to a survey, in half of the Chinese families polled, grandparents bear the main responsibility of raising children. Do you think it is appropriate for grandparents to charge for babysitting their grandchildren? Write an essay of about 400 words.
In the first part of your essay you should state clearly your main argument, and in the second part you should support your argument with appropriate details. In the last part you should bring what you have written to a natural conclusion or make a summary.
You should supply an appropriate title for your essay.
Marks will be awarded for content, organization , language and appropriateness. Failure to follow the above instructions may result in a loss of marks.

Charge for Babysitting Grandchildren A new survey report released by Shanghai Women Federation showed that, in half of the families polled, grandparents bore the main responsibility for raising grandchildren. Some think that grandparents should get compensation for caring for their grandchildren. While others have objection to this idea, holding that caring for grandchildren is an act of love that cannot be measured and spending time with grandchildren brings joy to them. As far as I am concerned, it is reasonable to charge for babysitting grandchildren. The first and foremost approval of charging for babysitting grandchildren is that old people have no responsibility to care for their grandchildren. Grandparents deserve a relaxing life after having raised their kids, so why should they continue working to raise grandchildren? It is the responsibility of parents to raise their kids, not the grandparents’. Caring for young children is not always fun or loving, with much responsibility involved. Grandparents should enjoy their own time instead of looking after babies. It takes them time and energy. So if they are needed to take care of their grandchildren, they should get it compensated. Even nominal payment would be appreciated with the grandparents feeling like their parenting experience and skills are valued and not taken for granted. The second approval of the proposal is that it is stupid to hire a baby sitter rather than giving the money to your own parents! Whom do you trust more, your own parents or a baby-sitter? Your own parents will surely care more for your child because they are their own flesh and blood. Most grandparents are more than willing to help, however, devoting all their time is not practical. Some responsibilities must be taken by the children themselves, or they may pay their parents some additional support money. Seniors may love your grandchildren dearly, but payment should also be given besides a home, food, and clothing. They need money apart from their social welfare. With everything said above, I have made my firm stand thoroughly approving of charging for babysitting grandchildren. Old people may spend their energy and time traveling or living a peaceful life instead of staying at home and caring for their grandchildren, which, as we all know, cost much energy. So it is absolutely reasonable that grandparents get paid for caring grandchildren.
