The white ants are not dangerous, but they destroy every wooden object into which they enter. If white ants get into any wooden object, such as a table, they eat out the inside of the wood completely. They can destroy the wooden boards of a house so completely that the house falls down. If they enter a box of books, the complete box of hooks will soon be destroyed. But it is easy to keep these ants away, for they cannot cross water. It is easy to stand the legs of a table in cups of water, and then they cannot reach it.
   A nest of white ants may easily be destroyed by taking away the queen. If a hole is made down to the bottom of the nest, the queen can usually be found quite easily, for she is very large -- over an inch long.
