答案 Is Long Holiday Necessary? As competition in today’s society becomes fiercer, some people regard long holiday as something unaffordable because work will be piled up during their absence. But still a lot of career pursuers go on enjoying their vacation time. They think that having a good rest during the holiday provides them with renewed energy and fresh outlook of their job. Personally I agree with the latter view. Holiday is beneficial to our Work in many ways and work should not prevent us from enjoying our life and spending quality time with friends and family. First, after months of working under pressure, one needs to relax his mind and body to get prepared for the next round of work. We human beings, like a clock, should periodically relax ourselves. Second, time away from work may give one a chance to look at his work with new ideas and fresh outlook when back to it again. Overwork may not only reduce work efficiency, but also hamper one’s original thinking. Moreover, after long period of work, one may feel bored with the daily routines and lose interest in the job. When one no longer appreciates his own work, how can he come up with good ideas and produce good results? With regard to its effects on our family relationship and friendship, holiday plays a big role in providing us sufficient time and good opportunity for family members and friends to share precious time together. If we go on letting work robbing us of the quality time spent with our beloved, if we let work completely take control of us, we will lose too many things essential in our life. All in all, we should not fall victims to the rat-race. In order to survive the competition, in order to live a complete life, we have to strike a balance between work and leisure.
