答案 The chart reports the outbound Visits made by Chinese citizens between 2001 and 2012. As is shown, the outbound visits have been on the rise every year. To be specific, in 2001, 12.13 million people traveled abroad, but in 2012, as many as 83.18 million people paid overseas visits. In addition, sharper increase is identified after the year 2009. A sudden jump of nearly 10 million people was recorded between 2009 and 2010 and for the next 2 consecutive years, a yearly increase of about 13 million tourists was recorded. The rising outbound visits made by Chinese citizens could be resulted from the following reasons. First, as the economy develops, Chinese citizens are relatively better off and could afford overseas visits. Second, Chinese society is more open-minded and citizens are given the options to explore and experience exotic beauty beyond the border of their own country. Given the economic growth and increasingly open-minded mindset, it is predictable that more Chinese tourists would make outbound visits in the near future.
