Many people think that money is the source of happiness, while others think that money is the root of all evils. What’s your opinion? In this section, you are asked to write an essay on money and happiness. You can take either stand and provide specific reasons and examples to support your idea. You should write at least 150 words.

答案
No one would deny that we are living in an increasingly commercialized society, where commodities are sold at a certain price, low or high. Happiness, however, is not a commodity. I think money cannot buy happiness. Happiness is a state of mind which goes beyond the boundary of material possession. The reason why people assume that money could buy happiness is that they follow the thought of the more things you own, the merrier you will be. Yet this idea is not entirely true as more things may also lead to misery. For example, in the fable Unhappy King, the king, who had everything of his kingdom, was not happy at all. After an extensive search for happy people, he found that a penniless peasant was the happiest person. In conclusion, happiness is in the eye of the beholder, who could be rich or poor. The ability to feel happy, regardless of the amount of possessions that one has, is a truly valuable asset that no money can buy.
