答案 How to Reduce Heavy Traffic Nowadays with the increasing number of private cars, traffic has become from bad to worse. There are often traffic jams on the road, especially during the peak hours. Such heavy traffic has caused great damage to the environment. Measures should be taken to reduce it. For one thing, the government should encourage citizens to reduce the use of private cars. For example, the authorities concerned can make public transportation more available by lowering fees, adding more public vehicles and opening up more lines. If public transportation is more convenient, citizens will choose it instead of private cars. For another, citizens should realize the grave consequences caused by heavy traffic and go to work by bike if they don’t like public transportation as bike-sharing has existed in many cities, which makes cycling easier. Since exhaust fumes are one of the causes of many environmental problems, such as the greenhouse effect and smog, all citizens should take more efforts to lessen the heavy traffic and to reduce emissions of exhaust fumes for the sustainable development of the environment.
