W: What seems to be the trouble?
M: Last night I had a headache and a fever and a pain in the chest. In fact I was in aches and pains all over, so I took some aspirin and went straight to bed. During the night my stomach began to ache and I felt like vomiting. I could get no sleep at all.
W: I see. Now let me feel your pulse. Open your mouth and I will have a look. And show me your tongue. Do you still have a stomachache?
M: It is a little better than this morning, but it still aches.
W: Your throat is quite swollen. You have a touch of flu. You’ll need an injection. I’ll give you a prescription. Take the liquid medicine three times a day thirty minutes before meals and the capsules a half hour after meals. Now then, I must warn you against any greasy food for a while. For two or three days, eat only soft food such as oatmeal and toast. After that you may eat what you like, but don’t overeat for a while even if you have an appetite. Have a good rest, and don’t overwork yourself.
