答案 Sending Students to College One of the major purposes of secondary school education is to qualify students for higher education. No. 10 Mid die School is working hard to send as many students as they can to colleges. The line in the chart indicates that in 1990 only thirty percent of the students graduated from the school passed the college entrance examination. And a majority (seventy per cent) of the students graduated had to leave school to look for jobs or stay at home. In 1991 the line rises to forty per cent and in 1992 it continues to rise to fifty percent, that’s to say, one half of the students graduated from high school got the chance of receiving higher education. However, in 1993 the line drops to forty percent, which certainly means a failure in the work of the school. Faced with such a terrible situation, the school authority had to take effective measures to improve their work. As a result a marked rise appears in the next two years, with sixty percent of students enrolled in colleges and universities in 1994 and seventy percent in 1995. Since the development and advancement of a country can be inferred from the education of its people, we do hope that more and more middle schools will learn from No. 10 Middle School and work hard to send more students to colleges and universities.
