问题    Some say TV makes it possible for us to know almost everything that is happening in the world without stepping out of our own homes. Therefore there is no need to read newspapers. What is your opinion?

答案 WATCHING TELEVISION OR READING NEWSPAPERS Some may wonder why people still read newspapers when they can get the news quickly from the television. In fact, people have different aims when reading newspapers and watching television. Both newspapers and the television bring news to us every day, but when we have bought an issue of’ newspaper, we can put it aside for the time being when we are busy and read it when we have time. When reading news papers we can take our time and need not bother whether we would miss any thing and we can keep them throughout our lives. However, reading news papers does not seem so attractive as watching TV. Watching television is the easiest way to get entertainment and it saves effort. With the vivid pictures and melodious sound, TV offers the latest news from all over the world, while we are sitting comfortably in a sofa or having our dinners. But what bothers us sometimes when we watch TV is just what benefits us when we read news papers. It allows us no time to exercise our imagination and to form our own views. The programs slip our minds quickly. In conclusion, I think watching television and reading newspapers are both good to us fundamentally. But we must choose the good programs to watch and good newspapers to read. For me, television is mainly for entertainment and newspapers for getting a deeper understanding of some special information.
