答案 What is shown in the chart above indicates that workers in some fields and sections of our society are overworking. Obviously, the self-employed individuals and scientific researchers top the list. There are reasons to pay immediate attention to the problem. Firstly, to overwork constantly does harm to people’s health and mentality. For example, we often hear that many intellectuals and artists die young because of heavy workload and the resulting psychological pressure. Secondly, frequent extra work disturbs people’s normal life. They become a working machine as a result of most of the time spent on their work. Thirdly, there must be some employers who have transgressed workers’ deserved rights by disobeying the national laws and regulations concerning eight-hour working limit. In conclusion, countermeasures should be taken immediately to reverse the current serious situation. On the one hand, more strict laws and regulations should be set up to protect workers’ rights. On the other hand, a public education campaign should be launched to make people understand the relationship between work and health and that between work and normal life.
