But I think both viewpoints are partly right and partly wrong. Television is a great invention. We can broaden our mind through watching TV, because television offers us a lot of information that you have never heard or known before. It can make you understand all kinds of knowledge. And television is also a cheap source of entertainment. You can watch various leisure programs without spending too much money. But it also has disadvantages. For example, people can’t choose what kind of programmes, they have to receive passively. It also provides children with too much things that they shouldn’t know, such as violence. If people spend too much time watching TV, their time for their families and other things will surely become less. So television in itself is neither good nor bad, it’s the uses that people put to it that determine its value to society.
