I’m going to share with you a documentary called Planet Earth. It’s one of my favourites and it’s an educational TV programme. There’re 11 episodes and each one features a different habitat on Earth, such as mountains, caves, deserts and jungles. The aim of the series is to take the viewers into those habitats, disclosing the lives of some interesting animals and plants. I first saw the programme on TV when the BBC broadcast it several years ago. It was shown every Sunday evening. Personally speaking, that was, without a doubt, the perfect time to watch such a fascinating nature programme. My attention span tends to last for a little bit longer during that time, so it’s quite apt for something educational. Then, a few months ago, a friend of mine bought me the DVD box set of the whole series as a Christmas present, and I watched all the episodes again. A week before this TV programme was first aired, it was advertised on TV repeatedly. That’s how I found it out. Its TV trailers really caught my attention by the incredibly beautiful images of nature. I was also attracted by the narrator of the programme, the well-known naturalist David Attenborough. It was these trailers that persuaded me to watch the first episode. What I like most about the Planet Earth series is its stunning photography and its global scope. For example, in the "Fresh Water" episode, they show us the giant salamanders in Japan, crocodiles in the river Nile, and river dolphins in the Amazon. I’m quite amazed at how they’ve managed to film such interesting creatures in so many locations. I enjoy learning about strange animal species, and the programme opens my eyes to the hidden wonders of our planet.
