On the eastern side of the Mediterranean Sea is the nation of Syria. In ancient times, Syria was much larger and included all the land on the eastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea. It reached all the way inland to the Arabian Desert. Today Syria is bordered by Turkey, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and the Mediterranean.
