答案Free time - What do you enjoy doing in your free time? Well, in my spare time, I usually watch films, read books of different kinds and sometimes I also like hanging out with my friends. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, right? So some entertainment activities in the spare time can keep my routine life rich and colourful. - Why do you like doing these activities? Well, I am an introspective person; I think films and books can help me understand who I am and other people with complex personalities. At the same time, humans are socialised and need to get emotional communication with others. So sometimes going out with intimate friends can really keep me sociable. - How did you start doing…. (name one of the activities mentioned in the answer) at first? Take film-watching as an example. I took to such an activity about five years ago when I first watched the film Kill Bill. It was a fantastic martial art film series. The speedy plot, the eye-catching special effects and the elegant performance of all stars really appealed to me when I watched the movie. Watching films can not only help me escape from the reality but also unfold a brand new world for me. - How has the way people spend their free time changed over the years? Instead of staying home alone, people nowadays prefer to go outside to experience the thrills of different entertainment activities. There are two factors for the changes. First, the development of science and technology provides people with more possibilities to entertain in leisure time. Second, the improved public transport and the increased car ownership also facilitate travel for people. Bicycles - How often do you ride bicycles? Actually, I have to say I don’t have a mania for bicycle. The working place is so far from my home that riding bicycles to commute can be very time-consuming. So I hardly ride bicycles except when go picnic in park. - How popular are bicycles in your country? Since the 2008 Beijing Olympics, bicycle-riding has become more and more popular among the young for the government advocates "green travel" and they prefer to live a healthier and environmentally-friendly life. Citizens can rent bicycles at rental points which can be seen everywhere, if they don’t have one. - Are they used more now than in the past? Why or why not? Actually, I think it is hard to say bicycles are more often used now than in the past, especially in the 1990s. At that time, bicycle was almost the only transport tool for the public and many were proud if they had their own bicycles. So we can imagine people were quite crazy about bicycles before. But nowadays, with the popularity of public transport and private cars, bicycles are used less frequently as ever before. - What do bicycles mean to you? As I just said, I don’t use bicycles a lot and I usually take the public transport to go outside. So you see bicycles are something like fashionable antiques for me. Sometimes riding bicycle can make me feel as if I returned to the old times and it could really free me from the fast pace of modern life.
