   工业污染防治是环境保护工作的重点。我国通过调整产业结构、产品结构和结合技术改造，推行清洁生产，完成了一大批污染治理项目。化工、机械、电力、轻工等行业积极推行清洁生产，加速技术改造，强制淘汰了一大批污染严重、能耗高的设备和产品，使工业生产连年增长，污染物排放量持续下降，效益逐年提高。同时，政府大力推进节能降耗，努力提高能源利用效率，积极调整能源结构。

Consequently, industrial production has increased for several years running, the discharge of pollutants has declined steadily and the economic returns of enterprises have gone up year by year. At the same time, China promotes economization on energy, striving to raise energy efficiency and to readjust its energy structure.
