答案 Chinese Outbound Travel Graph 1 shows the changes in the number of Chinese outbound tourists from 1994 to 2004. From the graph we can see, the number of Chinese outbound tourists increased rapidly during this period. In 1994 there were only about 6 million outbound tourists from China. This rose sharply to about 16 million in 2002, which was more than double the figure for 1994. In the following two years, the number of tourists started to pick up again and reached 28 million in 2004, which more than quadrupled the number in 1994. From graph 2 we can identify that if we strip out Hong Kong and Macau, Chinese outbound travel in 2004 was only close to 7.5 million. Therefore, it can be concluded that Hong Kong and Macau are the destination of a great majority of Chinese outbound tourists.
