答案 Energy or Safety As energy consumers in the modern society, we must be aware of what is conveyed in the set of drawings. Maybe we may seldom give thought to the sources of energy, but we should show great concern about the safety of our fellow workers in landmines. Surprisingly, many mine workers went to early graves because of neglect of safety programs. It appears that the whole coal industry just produce mixed results. Coal output is of great importance because coal supplies account for approximately 80 percent of the total energy consumption, as is clearly drawn in the diagram. The industry may contribute considerably to economic growth. However, equally important is the fact that continual landmine explosions claim the lives of thousands of the victims. Companies with high accident hardly plan their safety programs, continuing to work for lack of the supervision of authorities concerned and ignoring the dangers posed to their employees. To make the situation change for the better, the Government needs to tighten its regulatory standards, stiffen its inspection program and strengthen its enforcement policies. The coal industry should modify some long-accepted practices or reinforce safety programs. Last but not the least, miners will have to do a better job of placing a high value on a safety program.
