答案 The drawing depicts the phenomenon that two parents are comparing their children with each other. The child Xiao Wen, wearing glasses, had got a full mark in the exam. But his mother said "Look at Xiao Hu! How strong he is! " Meanwhile, the child named Xiao Hu, with a football in his hand, was scolded by his father for his low mark in the exam. His father shouted "Look at Xiao Wen! How excellent he is in his study!" Obviously, what the parents intended was "you are not as good as others". This is a common scene in Chinese families. Parents believe that comparison and criticism will urge their children to be better. But contrary to their intention, it has done great harm to both children and parents. For children, what they are not good at is often compared with others by their parents. Or sometimes even worse, when they are good enough they are still compared with the best one. This dissatisfaction from parents brings nothing but a loss of confidence to children. They begin to believe they are born stupid and always inferior to others. Gradually they lose the strengths they used to have and envy and even hatred of others are brewed. For parents, it is natural for them to be proud of their excellent children. When many parents come together, the comparison between children may be inevitable. However, what they often feel in comparison is the loss of their face, their incompetence in educating children and their shattered dreams that they often hope their children could realize. In this case , both parents and children are hurt badly. To avoid the undesirable results, parents had better quit comparison, learn to find the good qualities of their children and encourage them to exert these strengths so that their children would be happier and more confident in the future.
