答案 As the chart shows, the number of the Internet users in China has been rising ever since the year of 2005. Between the years of 2005 and 2009, the number has increased from 110 million to 338 million, with coverage rate of the Internet access increasing from 8.5% to 25.5%. The growth of Internet coverage and users, I think, results from the following reasons. First, advanced technology has made computers and the Internet access more affordable to ordinary people. In the late 1990s, it cost us a fortune to purchase a computer, because the technology was still in its infancy. Now, almost every household in cities could afford computers and network, for the mature technologies have made the hardware and software much cheaper. Second, the Internet application in various sectors promises us much more convenient and effective communication. Because of this, many government departments launch their e-portal to offer their services to citizens. Meanwhile, in order to better enjoy these services, people are more likely to use the Internet often. In conclusion, given the affordability and convenience of the Internet, its widespread popularity is predictable.
