答案 The Importance of Hand-Writing Our impression that students’ hand-writing skills are on the decline is echoed and confirmed by a report from the Ministry of Education. Not only are the students less appreciative to the beautiful hand-writing, the possibilities of them unable to write some Chinese characters are on the increase, and wrong body gestures are also among the problems detected. The increasing use of computer in our lives is obviously the biggest contributor to this problem . When teachers hand out assignments and collect papers through e-mail, and when the teaching materials are presented and copied in electronic form, how can we expect the students to improve their hand-writing? What’s making the situation worse is the fact that the educators are busily engaged in all sorts of daily routines that modern life requires. And we can not neglect the negative effect of a higher student-teacher ratio, especially in universities. And it is practically impossible for teachers to pay attention to, not to mention doing something about,the hand-writing of the students. The solution to the problem lies in the combined efforts of students, teachers and schools. Students need to understand the importance of hand-writing while teachers need to inform, to emphasize and to guide the students. And regulations and rules about enhancing the students’ hand-writing should be made and practiced by schools.
