答案
Be Generous with Your Compliments When it comes to the effect of compliments, one of Mark Twain’s remarks flashes in my mind, which goes like this, "I can live for two months on a good compliment. " Indeed, people always feel happy when hearing others’ compliments. First and foremost, it’s indisputable that a good many people are fond of compliments. With a host of issues to deal with every day, they are more likely to be under heavy pressure and can easily lose heart or become disheartened. In this case, offering our compliments can not only help them become upbeat and active, but also improve their confidence. In return, if your compliments prove to be effective, people will also offer their compliments when you are dispirited. In addition, sometimes compliments may be extremely useful to us, especially when we are communicating with a stranger, in which case compliments may help us ease the awkward atmosphere and get on well with each other. Thus, giving compliments can promote our social intercourse to some extent. Taking all these factors into account, it is so influential and helpful for us to be generous with our compliments, as giving others compliments will make people happy and have unexpected gains.
