In 1885, the U. S. Post Office had a problem in the southern state of Florida. The delivery service f【21】Lake Worth to Biscayen Bay was taking six weeks.
They found a solution—a 136-mile route that took three days. It meant that the mailmen had to walk barefoot along beaches for eighty miles and then c【22】the remaining fifty-six miles by boat.
