答案 In the drawing a teacher is asking his students to do a simple calculation: what’s one plus one, then the kids, all busy in pressing buttons, resort to calculators. Seeing the drawing, people may be astonished with how much we rely on technology. Admittedly, technology has benefited millions of people and it is hard to think of an area of modern life that is not, in some way, related to the development of science and technology. However, owing to science and technology, people are losing some basic physical powers and mental capacities. Because of the invention of cars and trains, many people are reluctant to go about on foot. Even during travels, cable cars take the place of legs and bring people to the top of high mountains. The advent and prevalence of the Internet, to some extent, deprive some people of fundamental real-life communicative skills. A doctor even cannot diagnose a patient without relying on lab tests or medical equipment. Judging from what’s been discussed above, we may safely come to the conclusion that people tend to rely on technology a little too much nowadays. As a double-bladed sword, technology also brings about curses, especially upon the younger generation who are techno-junkies interacting with the world merely via their computer screens.
