Is it necessary for the companies to retain quality staff? Why? How to retain quality staff.
选项
答案
Suggested answers: a.It is necessary for the companies to retain quality staff. Retaining talent is one of the most challenging issues facing major corporations in China despite the country’s abundant supply of labor. Now large firms fear losing quality staff amid soaring demand for experienced labor. Some even say that corporations are now facing brain-drain hurdle. Companies have invested heavily to keep staff amid soaring demand for experienced labor across the border. b.It is important for companies to retain quality staff. Competition for professionals is heating up as multinational corporations raced to capitalize on China’s deregulation in sectors such as information technology, telecommunications, banking and professional services under its World Trade Organization commitments. I believe China has a tremendous pool of resources, but to build that up is a challenge because we need a group of strong professional managers. c.Retaining quality staff is crucial to business success. Some companies have adopted strategies to foster staff loyalty, such as offering them training opportunities at their offices overseas. Rotation of jobs will give them international exposure and experience. Staff turnover at these companies are relatively low. d.Retaining quality staff is vital for success of a company. From the financial perspective, retaining a worker is cheaper than recruiting one. Employers believe that offering an employee-friendly working environment is the key to staff loyalty. e.Maintaining the solidarity of employees was particularly crucial to the future development of the firms. For example, a boom in enterprises and financial markets means accounting firms are very competitive in hiring auditors. They are short of quality staff everywhere. People realize that keeping staff happy will make clients happy, which will bring in business. f.Many employers manage to strike a balance on their staff workload and work life. For example, some firms offer a better working environment by setting up offices in Dalian last year as some staff members have to travel to remote areas. Some others believe regular dialogue between management and staff would reinforce loyalty to the firms. g.The firms also give managers authority on some decision-making, which will give them more responsibilities and motivation. Salary increases will vary on individual companies, company profitability and staff performance. The flood of fresh graduates and local talent has also led to a marked convergence in salaries. h.Retaining quality staff is necessary. It is more important than ever before. As many foreign firms are expanding in China, many local firms expect their staff will be poached. Higher pay, a rapidly growing pool of fresh graduates and a greater sense of entrepreneurship are transforming China’s talent landscapes. This comes as more multinationals face the growing challenges of recruiting and retaining staff. You have to offer more than just monetary compensation. I think that’s a short-term and lazy approach. i.Difficulties in overcoming differences in corporate cultures remain a key problem for many foreign companies recruiting training local staff. This is not just limited to differences specific to individual cities and provinces. This issue would become even more evident when the“Hukuo”system is removed. Hukuo refers a wartime system of identifying residents of cities and provinces and restricting their movements to other areas of China. If you are a company in Shanghai and you want to recruit someone form another province, you have to go through a lot of paperwork. Even when the recruitment was completed, animosities between people from different cities and provinces might arise.
