Grammar or Grandma The picture depicts a scene where a girl asks her grandma to help her with English while calling her "grammar", a word similar to "grandma" in pronunciation. Clearly the girl is badly in need of help with her English grammar. Nowadays some people advocate that grammar is not important in English learning. However, as far as I am concerned, grammar still plays a vital role in the learning of English. For one thing, grammar is of great importance in reading and listening comprehension. Only when you understand the structure of a complicated sentence can you get hold of its meaning. Otherwise, you cannot understand the sentence even if you know all the words. For another, grammar is also very important in speaking and writing. Your intentions may not be properly comprehended without correct grammar, which may lead to confusion or perhaps even conflicts. Therefore, when expressing yourself, you should use not only correct words but also correct grammar. To sum up, grammar is useful and crucial in both receiving and delivering messages. You should exert yourself to master grammar in order to have a better command of English.
