    There’s a lot of information technology packed between the leather cheeks of your wallet: cheque cards, credit cards, travel cards, phone cards. The world of finance in particular has come up with numerous devices that have made their way into our back pocket—to make it easier to spend, but, just as important, to keep track. (41)______.     When a card is placed in an ATM, a motorized reader scans the magnetic strip, requests the user’s PIN, checks the balance and, all being well, dispenses the cash. (43)______.
