    There’s a lot of information technology packed between the leather cheeks of your wallet: cheque cards, credit cards, travel cards, phone cards. Common to all cards is that they are made of PVC (plastic) and have ferromagnetic strip on the back—the same stuff as video tape. (42)______.     When a card is placed in an ATM, a motorized reader scans the magnetic strip, requests the user’s PIN, checks the balance and, all being well, dispenses the cash. (43)______.
