答案 In the picture, a group of people are patiently queuing in a line, waiting their turns to voluntarily donate blood. The vivid and moving scene will leave an impression on those who stand close by, wondering whether to give or not to give. Of course, if we want to "ask for" support as a member of any community, we should first learn to "give" support to other members. Since we are social beings, the quality of our lives depends in large measure on social support, which consists of the exchange of resources based on interpersonal ties. Social resources are accumulated through the contribution coming from each member, who should show others kindness and sympathy without which life would be intolerable. If nobody took on the responsibility for the common good of society, there would be no social support. It follows naturally that we have to be aware of his responsibility for the well-being of other citizens. To take a dramatic example, which is still in everybody’s mind at the present time: our nurses or doctors built the defense wall against SARS, a terrible disease, which threatened the health of the public in the year 2003. The disease is infectious and is likely to claim our lives, but health professionals in the medical field never hesitated to shoulder their responsibility. They succeeded—even at the cost of their lives—not only bringing the epidemic under control but also setting a positive example of responsibility and donation to the whole country. Without a sense of making commitment to the society, it is unlikely that we are treated with blood transfusion when necessary, or that we are always asking for social benefits. It is advisable that those standing close by should join in the group in the picture.
