Business Etiquette Outside the Workplace
Dan Meyers, a noted workplace psychologist, has just published his latest book, Doing Business in the 21st Century. It is a sequel to his Job Success Now, which was highly praised for its practical advice on how to gain rapid promotions at work. In this new book, Meyers leaves the office behind and dispenses valuable tips concerning etiquette outside the workplace. Interestingly, Meyers says that you need not attend every company social event. However, if you are invited to a function that will be attended by your company’s CEO, you should always go. When you are at company functions, you should try to mingle with colleagues you rarely see or talk to in the workplace. But avoid gossip. You should also avoid arriving after the event’s starting time, and you should dress casually but neatly at picnics and barbecues. "Remember that you are gathering with co-workers and not friends," Meyers writes.
Mr. Meyers has lectured on workplace psychology at Northeast University for more than 20 years. He has won several awards for his innovative training and team design programs, and he currently acts as a consultant to several of the nation’s largest corporations. His first book, Coaching Your Staff, sold nearly 500,000 copies and was named "Year’s Best Business Book" in a readers’ survey. His previous book, fob Success Now, sold more than 750,000 copies, and sales of Doing Business in the 21st Century are expected to be even higher. All three works were released by Aberdeen Group, a specialty press focusing on business publications.
What suggestion is given concerning business social events?
选项
A、Going to every one that you are invited to
B、Arriving slightly late to outdoor events
C、Wearing formal clothing even at casual events
D、Talking to co-workers rarely encountered on the job
答案
D
