The sharing economy allows people to rent out an abundant of goods and services through online platforms. Therefore, owners can profit from this new economy. Renters, meanwhile, pay less than they would if they bought the item themselves, or turned to a traditional provider such as a hotel or a car rental company. However, with the development of the sharing economy, there are legitimate concerns about the safety of owners and consumers since the regulations and laws on the sharing economy have yet to be put in place. The platforms need to examine their members’ identity carefully, and, if necessary, make a criminal record check to reduce fraud.
