Humans are social animals. They like to live and work in groups, and therefore, they form couples and families, villages and cities, work groups, team, and other organizations. Language is the "cement" that holds these social .groups together. Through language we can share ideas and experiences. Our brain thinks in symbols--words and sentences--as well as in the images that we receive from our senses. Thus we can mm experiences into symbols and communicate with other people through the use of language. Language enables people to pass ideas from group to group and from generation to generation.
