Nowadays people get to know what is taking place around the world through various kinds of news reports. However some news reporters tend to twist what they write about. Because of their unreliable reports, an increasing number of people now hold that journalists are not trustworthy. Although this opinion is a bit of an exaggeration, yet it does bring up a question for us to answer: what qualities does a journalist need to have? A real journalist, as I see it, should be responsible, honest and knowledgeable. First and foremost, a journalist should have a strong sense of justice and social responsibility. He should always bear in mind that his task as a journalist is to maintain the justice of the community he lives in and therefore his report should be impartial in any case. For instance, some journalists risked their lives in Iraq when the US-led forces started the war against it. Their willingness to report what was really taking place in the war is a mirror of their high sense of justice. In order to ensure this, a journalist needs to be honest and true to facts. Some news people seem to ignore a basic rule that they should stick to, that is, all news should be based on facts. It is not rare that a journalist write a news report about a VIP just based on a telephone interview; some journalists even fabricate sensational news just in order to finish the task they are assigned; worst of all, some journalists are bribed to write favourable news reports for companies. Lack of honesty on the part of these reporters undermines journalism as an honourable profession. In addition, a journalist should be knowledgeable and quick-witted. Needless to say, a journalist has to interview people differing widely in their background, figures from all walks of life, so to speak. Understandably a wide knowledge is a necessity for him. We can hardly imagine a newsperson coming up with a successful report without an adequate knowledge of the subject being covered. Meanwhile a journalist has to have a quick mind to cope with the possible unexpected situations in the course of interview, as many of the reports are broadcast live these days. There might be more that are expected of a journalist, but I think what I have discussed above are the basic requirements he has to meet before he is qualified for the profession of journalism.
解析
引言部分从现象的讨论人手提出问题并且概括性地回答了问题(A real journalist,as I see it, should be responsible,honest and knowledgeable.)
