Activities on Campus
I am writing this letter to make a couple of suggestions about school activities here at Albion College. First, the college really ought to upgrade its theater and auditorium equipment. The lighting and sound systems are both antiques. Plus, the number of seats needs to be increased. I believe this could be done without too much remodeling. Second, to go with the new facilities, the school needs to set up an online system for buying tickets. I mean, I can buy a plane ticket to Kathmandu online. I should be able to buy a ticket to a basketball game or concert on campus the same way. The service would be both convenient and time-saving. So come on Albion: let’s move on into the twenty-first century!

Question: The woman expresses her opinion toward the proposal of upgrading the auditorium facilities. State her opinion and explain the reasons she gives for holding that opinion.
W: Hi, did you see the letter in the newspaper?
M: The letter about upgrading facilities and tickets? Sure I saw it. What did you think?
W: I liked his ideas. I’m the president of the Debate Club, you know. We have to hold our competitions in the auditorium, but the facilities are really outdated, making the activities boring and not interesting.
M: Why is that?
W: Have you ever been there? The place is ancient! The microphones and speakers don’t work well. Sometimes they don’t work at all! Plus the lighting is poor. You can’t see and you can’t hear!
M: Hmm, I see. Anything else?
W: The ticket office on campus has just one window. And it’s only open 9-12, and 1-4. We’re all in class then. Even if I can find time to go there, I’d have to waste time standing in that long, long line of people. Selling tickets online would save time and trouble for us all.
