答案 This is a chart that reflects the change in world of work in the U. K. The number of males and females working in both services and manufacturing changed from 1978 to 2000. From 1978 to 1984, the number of people working in service, about 8 millions, almost did not change. However, males who work in manufacturing decreased from 5 millions to fewer than 4 millions. From 1984 to 2000, more and more people chose service as their jobs and females accounted for a larger part. Females who worked in the service increased up to nearly 12 millions and males also grew up to 10 millions. On the contrary, in manufacturing industry, the number of females and males both decreased by nearly 50%. So, generally speaking, the service industry is more attractive to people, especially females.
