答案 In the picture, a man is showing his love to a foreign lady in a western-styled dress. Left alone and ignored, a Chinese lady with traditional Chinese-styled dress stands beside them. The intention of the picture is to call for a balance between the foreign language learning, represented by the western lady, and the Chinese learning, represented by the Chinese lady. In my opinion, foreign language learning and Chinese learning are equally important. On the one hand, Chinese is our mother tongue, which is the root of our culture and identity. It is also the key to the time-honored Chinese philosophical thinking and the classical Chinese literature. If we do not master Chinese, we would not have the access to the great civilization that has survived thousands of years of vicissitude. On the other hand, foreign languages open many windows for us and broaden our horizons. In the age of globalization, information and knowledge are transmitted instantaneously. If we understand the first-hand materials in their own languages, we would be able to keep up with the changing time. In conclusion, foreign languages and Chinese are like two arms of our body. We could not afford to use one arm only and give up the other.
