    夸父生性喜欢探求。有一天，他突然产生了一个念头，想看看太阳究竟是个什么样子。他迈开双腿，像一阵风似地跑起来，眨眼之间就跑出了几百里。
    夸父一心要追上太阳，一直追到禹峪(也称虞渊)。这是太阳落下的地方，落日像一团火球，烤得夸父口干舌燥。他渴得要死，跑到黄河去喝水，黄河的水不够喝，他又赶到渭河。渭河的水也喝干了，还是不解渴。他又往北方的大泽赶。没有来得及赶到大泽，就在半路上渴死了。
    夸父死的时候，丢掉了手里的拐杖，拐杖落下的地方，变成了一片桃林。夸父的尸体变成了一座大山，后人称为夸父山。桃林、夸父山就在现在的灵宝市。灵宝市古时候叫作桃林县，从函谷关以西直到华阴，三百里间桃林茂盛。夸父山在灵宝市阳平镇东南灵湖峪和池峪之间。

答案 Long long ago, there was a giant in the north, called Kua Fu. He lived in a desolate mountain. Kua Fu was naturally keen on exploration. One day, he suddenly had an idea that he wanted to see exactly what the sun was like. He started to move his legs, running like a gust of wind. After a short while, he ran hundreds of li away. Kua Fu set the goal to catch up with the sun. He kept running until reached Yu Yu Valley (also known as Yu Yuan Valley). This was the place where the sun set. The setting sun was like a ball of fire, which made him feel thirsty. He was dying of thirst, therefore he ran to the Yellow River to drink. The water of the whole Yellow River was not adequate to quench his thirst, then he rushed to the Weihe River. He drank all the Weihe River water. It did not quench his thirst, either. He went to Daze (Immense Lake) in the north. Not in time to arrive there, he died of thirst on the half way. Kua Fu died and lost the walking stick in his hands. The place where he dropped his crutch turned into a peach orchard. Kua Fu’s body turned into a hill which later was known as the Kua Fu Hill. The peach orchard and Kua Fu Hill were located in Lingbao City. Lingbao City, in ancient times, was called Taolin County. The area ranging from the west of Han Gu Guan to Hua Yin had about three hundred li of flourish peach orchard. Kua Fu Hill lay between Ling Hu Yu (Spirit/Supernatural Lake Valley) which was in the southeast of Yangping Town in Lingbao City and the Chi Yu (Lake/Pool Valley).
